Train to Teach English as a Foreign Language

There is a huge demand for qualified teachers of English to speakers of other languages (TESOL) in Spain, Latin America, and all around the world?

To work as a teacher, you usually need to have a teaching certificate. The problem is that there are thousands of TEFL or TESOL certificates on offer. How do you know your training course will really train you to be an effective teacher? How do you know that your certificate will lead to a decent job with a good local salary and good working conditions.

Training on a reputable and prestigious course will help you get the right job in the right place.

With a TEFL certificate, you can find work as an English teacher in Spain, Latin America, or anywhere around the world. With our accredited course, you are guaranteed a teaching certificate that provides you with the skills and knowledge to work in academies in Spain and around the world.

Who can enrol on the course

You certainly don’t need to be a native speaker of English. Teachers who speak English as a second language often make better teachers.

You do need any teaching experience to enrol in the course. Nor do we require you to speak a second language. You certainly don’t need a Linguistics degree!

We believe that a positive attitude, good social skills, and a willingness to step outside of your comfort zone for 4 weeks are the keys to being successful on our course.

We do not believe that there a certain type of person makes a great teacher of English as a foreign language. We want you to develop a teaching style which suits your personality.

We do require trainee teachers to meet the following entry requirements though:

  • Are you 18 or over?
  • Do you have a higher education degree or would your educational background and qualifications allow you to enter higher education in your country?
  • Are you a competent and fluent speaker and writer of English? You don’t need to speak English as your first language – in fact, we believe people who learned English as a second language often make the best teachers – but you do need to have C1 English or above. This may be assessed at the interview.
  • Are you willing to work as a member of a training group and receive and give support to your fellow trainees?
  • Are you able to respond positively to constructive feedback and use it as an opportunity to improve your teaching performance?
  • Are you interested in learning and teaching?
  • Are you able and willing to work hard and manage your time well to make sure you deal with the demands of an intensive course?
  • Are you able to and willing to learn new skills?

A really practical course, based on the real needs of a classroom. A really practical course, based on the real needs of a classroom. I wish I had done this course before. All the previous courses I did paid too much attention to theory. However, this TEFL course did not. Dylan is a great trainer. His experience and his knowledge are immense. Thank you Dylan for helping me so much. Without doubt, you have helped me become a better teacher.

What you learn on the course

There are 5 course units designed to train you in the art of teaching English to speakers of other languages. Our practical and fun course consists of lessons, workshops and assignments which prepare you for English language classroom.

We believe that you learn by doing. Our course is intensive but never boring. We expect you to put what you learn into practice to ensure that you become a confident and competent teacher by the end of the course.

1.Teaching Skills The best way to learn a new skill is through practice and feedback. On our course, you will plan and give 6hrs of lessons to real students and get useful feedback from your experienced trainers. By the end of the course, you’ll be ready to teach in any classroom around the world.
2.Language Awareness Being able to speak English perfectly doesn’t mean you can explain how English works to your students. Learn about grammar, lexis and phonology and, most importantly, how to help your students learn about the English language.
3.Learner Profile The best teachers understand the needs of their learners. Learn how to work with individual students, assess their English skills, analyse their needs, and create a personalised learning experience that they’ll love.
4.Materials Assignment Teaching is much more than following a course book. Learn how to adapt published materials and create your own.
5.Unknown Language Teachers need to put themselves in their learner’s shoes. By becoming a language student again, you will gain a deeper awareness of their needs.

Our course is accredited by TQUK – an OFQUAL-approved training organisation based in the UK. Unlike many TEFL courses, we work with small groups of trainee teachers and guarantee you lots of observed teaching practice and personalised support and guidance.
